My university, Carnegie Mellon, is the 6th most expensive US college for undergraduates. According to the article, 2008-2009 tuition and fees run $39,564 -- and that doesn't include room and board. According to Forbes:
...the school estimates its cost of attendance to be $52,150
I'm a graduate student at the CMU-Silicon Valley extension, whose costs are even higher: the Master's program in Software Engineering costs $53,550 for the 2009-2010 school year.
One bright spot: CMU offers a monthly payment plan, which allows you to spread the cost of your tuition over an entire year, rather than paying in large chunks at the beginning of each semester. There is a small enrollment fee of about $40. Your on-campus room and board costs can also be included in the payment plan, as well as other CMU fees (such as the Activities Fee, Technology Fee, and Port Authority Fee.)
